Pet DNA Now Being Used to Solve Crimes

DNA collected from pets can be used to help solve crimes like animal abuse and even murders. A few examples…

In 2014, a man in Colorado was convicted of animal cruelty after DNA evidence from his dog was matched to the remains of a cat found in his yard.

In 2015, a man in Florida was convicted of murder after DNA evidence from his dog was matched to blood found at the crime scene.

In 2018, a man in California was convicted of murder after DNA evidence from his dog was matched to blood found on his shoes.

Hmm… Veterinary forensics may be the future of crime fighting and the next rung in a career ladder for a practicing Veterinarian or a new movie. Maybe a remake of Ace Ventura: Pet Detective?
